Swindon Town

Today's article is written by Susan Dourish where  we caught up with her at the County Ground home to Swindon Town F C, where Shrewsbury Town played Swindon Town on 21st Feb 2012, Everybody was looking forward to this match as if the Shrews won the match they would go top of League 2.

The match was played in front of 7,990 fans of which 333 were Shrews fans, which was good for a Tuesday night match.

Shrews lost 2-1

A game of two halves. Town were excellant in the first half passing the ball well and on top for the whole half. The goal was from a corner headed in by Matt Richards giving us a well deserved lead.

After half time Terry Gornell was through on goal and brought down by McCormack, the referee looked to his cards then seemed to change his mind on what should have been a definate red card and penalty. Swindon stepped up a gear and started to pass better and get on top leading to there first goal, a spill by Chris Neal and turned in by Alan Conell. Town fought back with shots by Collins, but nothing came from them. It was the impressive Conell again who went through and scored a second goal putting Swindon 2-1 into the lead, Town never gave up but it wasn't to be.

Paulo Di Canio was his usual animated self. Town fans were excellent, bring on CRAWLEY.
